The above image shows the impact of the following problems on various individuals and the extent of the impact ranging from most to least affected. The inner most ring being the most affected.
1) CONTAMINATION OF WATER
-The problem of contaminated water severely affects the tribal families especially infants. They suffer from diseases like fluorosis and other water bourne diseases.
-The next in line to be affected are the doctors and the Head of the district.
Since the number of doctors in Jhabua are limited, any epidemic causes over load of work on the doctors. Also the doctors can play a major role in Counselling the people regarding hygeine and safety and in educating them with respect to vaccinations.
Anything going wrong in the district and the responsibility to solve it falls entirely upon the district head. Setting up campaigns, tie ups with NGO's , and working as a link to the State Government is the job of the District Head.
- State Government is the least affected as he/she only works in setting up policies and and implementing it.
2) MIGRATION
- When the men of the tribal families migrate to another state for jobs, the women and children fall under tremendous pressure with respect to food and income.
- When migration occurs, the District Head of the area where the tribals migrate to starts feeling the stress regarding over population and managing the food security system. When migration occurs in Jhabua, the District Head of Jhabua has to manage with the drop in the economy of the district.
3) MALNUTRITION
- Malnutrition is a problem severely affecting the infants in Jhabua.
- In such cases, Doctors and the District Head are overloaded with the responsibility of Counselling parents, Setting up campaigns for educating young mothers about maternal and prenatal health and trying to provide for basic nutrients.
- The State Government the tries to formulate policies regarding food security and starts researching about the possible solutions to reduce malnutrition.
4) SHORTAGE OF WATER
- Due to Jhabua being a drought prone area, shortage of water for day to day life and agriculture is a major issue. It affects the lives of the farmers to a large extent since agriculture happens to be the main occupation.
- Since agriculture fails due to shortage of water, the sellers and buyers in the market also suffer a large amount of loss. Whereas the Head of the District has to look for alternative options to improve the economy and poverty problems of the district.
- The problem of shortage of water is a problem hat the state government has been trying to solve since a long time. Approving and implementing policies and setting up of systems/ solutions such as watershed management and rainwater harvesting is done by the State Government.
Thus a single problem affects a wide range of people the only difference being the extent of the effect.
